This season on the podcast, co-hosts Liz and Karla will be sharing mini episodes each Monday to highlight important topics for a healing journey. These Factors In Action episodes will share insightful ways that you can bring the healing factors into your life.
This Week - Empowerment with a New Diagnosis
Start from an Empowered Place. First, take a deep breath. Determine if you are in an emotional emergency or a physical emergency. Many cancers have been growing for some time and therefore are not a physical emergency. Most of us have time to research, get second opinions, and make informed decisions.
Tell your doctor you do not want to hear the “prognosis” or the statistics. You are not a number and should insist from the start on being treated like an individual not as a number or diagnosis. The statistics and prognosis will not help you and may only upset you more. No one, not even the smartest doctor, can possibly know YOUR outcome. There are so many stories of people who have outlived the prognosis! You can be one of them!

In 2016, Katherine was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shocked and having young kids at the time, she followed a conventional path with the public healthcare system in New Zealand which included a full mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and hormonal therapy. During her treatment, she took it upon herself to eliminate all sugar, ultra processed foods, refined carbohydrates & alcohol. She gradually eliminated gluten and dairy to lower her inflammation and improve her gut health. She then started to meditate and also restarted her knitting hobby during her treatments as a form of therapy. Katherine connected with other cancer survivors which helped her navigate the intense anxiety of her diagnosis. Today Katherine helps women who struggle with burnout, addictive behaviors and those living with chronic illness to build mental fitness and navigate the emotional trauma to feel empowered and confident.

Welcome to the Stories That Heal Podcast
The Radical Remission Project “Stories That Heal” Podcast is dedicated to sharing true stories of people who have overcome the odds of their diagnosis and the personal experiences witnessed by their healers. We hope these stories will inspire you to become the leader of your healing journey!
The Radical Remission Project was born out of Kelly A. Turner, PhD’s dissertation research on Radical Remission. As Dr. Turner began the research as part of her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley, she realized that the opinions of two groups of people were typically missing from the 1,000+ cases of radical remissions published in medical journals – the survivors themselves and their alternative healers.
Because conventional medical doctors do not currently have an explanation for why radical remissions’s occur, Dr. Turner decided to ask these two ignored groups what they thought could lead to a radical remission. Her dissertation research involved a trip around the world during which she traveled to over 10 different countries in order to interview Radical Remission survivors and their alternative healers about their modalities for healing cancer. Since then, her research has continued, and Dr. Turner has now analyzed over 1,500 cases of radical remissions, including those using an integrative approach.
The findings of her research are summarized in the New York Times and Amazon bestsellers, Radical Remission and Radical Hope.
